It warms my heart to see that some anonymous donor is willing to put one million dollars towards the purchase of the Sunny Rock Farm parcel, and a huge tip of the hat to the Trust for Public Lands.

".....Citizens for Sunny Rock Farm are working with nonprofit conservation company Trust for Public Land to purchase 74 acres of Sunny Rock from the Buttimer Family Trust. After a successful purchase the group would then give the land at North and Fisher Streets to the town, should an article pass at Spring Town Meeting"

Essentially what is happening here is a small group of individuals are willing to try to buy the property and GIVE it to the town of Walpole. It is sincerely hoped that that group will include YOU. It definitely is going to include me.

I am inspired by this anonymous individual, and I will be committing to this cause. Those of you that are constantly concerned with athletics field space, please note: two areas will be devoted to athletics fields.

No, I do not live next to Sunny Rock or Adams Farms, but I am totally aware of the benefits of open space and its positive effect on our town.

More large homes will be put in place if this doesn't happen. That will mean more traffic and more needs for the school system. That alone will require more athletic field space. Reason: more athletes!!

Athletics supporters came out in a huge way to support the new athletics complex. I ponied up what I could. Some of those folks should consider this cause as well.

To the 1 million dollar donor: Thanks for the inspiration!

Athletic Fields at Sunnyrock? North St is very narrow and windy, has a traffic study been done yet?
Will residents of North Walpole want all those soccer moms driving up and down North St?

Adams Farm is much easier to get to and no athletic fields are allowed there, partly due to the
problem with the potential increase of traffic on that road which may not be wider than North St
by much but is at least straight and easy to get to.

you really hate adams farm, don't you? I've had this talk with you before. You need to cut it out. Its showing, even in your non-anonymous contact with your friends (like me).

put it to bed, will you please?

The 8 acres set aside for athletic fields would actually be off of Fisher Street, where there is an access way between the properties at 355 Fisher Street and 373 Fisher Street. This is far more practical access than Adams Farm. The map below is from their Facebook page.

So now how do you feel about it?

the access at fisher street actually puts the new sunnyrock fields closer to the rest of the town than Adams Farm.

I wonder: have the Friends of the Athletic Complex expressed any support? Or do athletics supports in town only support specific sports?

Regardless of where you live in the Town of Walpole a donation towards the preservation of the Sunny Rock farm area is a great investment. Here is but one example. If sold for 30 house lots with 1 school age child per home the taxpayer can expect to "pay" about $3,000 per child ( already deducted expected real estate tax )or $90,000 each school age year about a MILLION DOLLARS in a dozen years. It is a storied piece of land and good folks have taken upon themselves to raise the money . They are already 1/3 of the way there. If you are able please help.

It would be great if those who are looking for all of Walpole to contribute to the purchase of Sunny Rock Farm would come out publicly and support their fellow South Walpole citizens fight against the casino. Thus far North Walpole folks have been invisible in taking a stand aginst the casino and it would go a long way towards bringing the community together to have North Walpole show that they care about other ares of town besides their own area.

I have yet to come across any information on how to actually donate to the Sunny Rock effort. The article in the Times a few weeks ago provided no information on how to do so. Please don't say "contact the committee". Shouldn't the committee be getting the word out publicly, rather than requiring individual inquiries? The Walpole Times article seemed like the perfect opportunity, yet nothing was mentioned. I found that very puzzling.
