Superfund decision, fall 2008
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has decided on a plan for the cleanup of the South Street Superfund site.
The $13 million project calls for the same approach as presented by the agency at a public hearing in Walpole this summer -- with two potential additions in response to points raised by town officials.
The EPA's press release says the agency will do further analysis on the derelict building on the west side of the street and also in an area close to the site adjacent to the Neponset River. "EPA will assess whether additional cleanup work under its authority, not provided for in the Record of Decision, is needed," the release says.
Here's the Oct. 6 EPA press release.
